Saffron Walden County High School are the latest beneficiaries of the Aerozone’s outreach work. 60 girls from Year 8 enjoyed two half day workshops at school hosted by pilots, ground crew and engineers. Following an inspiration talk from easyJet pilots the girls looked at the forces behind flight and, through a scientific experiment, demonstrated how lift is generated by a fixed wing.
The school’s Director of Curriculum Graham Oxborrow said:
“We were delighted by the quality of input by the Stansted staff to our Year 8 girls who took part in the Aerozone Roadshow. The girls were really engaged by both the talks and practical tasks, and the activities opened their eyes to career opportunities for girls in the aviation and engineering sectors. Our evaluation showed that participation encouraged all of the girls to think more broadly about their career options, which is what we wanted to achieve.”
